Here you can find all the info on the new 2014 Toyota Vios, including pricing details, interior and exterior design, release date and other details. The car was introduced at the 2013 Bangkok Auto Show. It is also known as Yaris in markets of some countries.
Toyota Company has invested a lot of effort into 2014 Vios from whom much is expected in the future. It is based on its predecessor with a host of enhancements to the exterior and interior. With this new model, Toyota is planning to dominate the Asian market first and then the whole world.
The new Vios is considered (internationally, at least) as a 4th generation model, though locally this is the 3rd generation version. The car itself is a subcompact sedan, slotting in just under the Toyota Corolla Altis.
It will be manufactured at the automaker’s Gateway Plant, Chachoengsao in Thailand, and will be exported to more than 80 countries. Targeted markets are Indonesia, Thailand, China, Brazil, as well as USA and Europe. The 2014 Vios will not be produced in India, as Toyota Kirloskar Motor APM in India has informed that there are no new products until 2015.
Designed to appeal to first time car buyers, the Toyota Vios 2014 has familiar styling that echoes the Verso and Yaris. The entry-level model has a no-frills appearance, but higher-end variants are distinguished by projector beam headlights, chrome trim and 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels. Overall, the model measures 4410mm long, 1700mm wide and 1475mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,550mm.
For rear lights this vehicle has been decorated with LED as well as a new bumper which adds a muscular impression on New Vios. The interior of New Vios is also not to be outdone. Dashboard, instrument panel, meter cluster and steering wheel also had a refresher.
Despite being aimed at the lower end of the market, the vehicle has a stylish cabin with decent materials. Notable highlights include attractive gauges, metallic accents and a four-speaker audio system with MP3 capabilities, USB and AUX connections. It also comes with Sophisticated and Exceptional accessories.
In terms of engines, the Vios retains the same powerplants from the previous generation, with the Base, J, and E grades getting the 2NZ-FE 1.3L DOHC 16-valve inline-4 VVT-i engine. The 1299cc engine makes 85 PS and 122 Nm of torque, and can be matched with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
The G grades retain the 1NZ-FE 1.5L DOHC 16-valve inline-4 VVT-i engine that makes 107 PS and 142 Newton meters. A 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual are the transmission choices, the same as before.
The deputy chief engineer for the Vios project, Suzuki-san, stated that the new Vios has had a reworked body structure for better rigidity, better aerodynamics, and a reworked suspension. We’ll find out later on how the new Vios drives.
For safety, all grades now get dual airbags including the 1.3 Base grades, along with ELR seatbelts for all passengers. Foglamps, ABS, EBD and the alarm system become standard with the E grades and higher.
The all new Vios will be sold in 6 variants, and will be made available in Freedom White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Black, Red Mica Metallic, Dark Brown Mica Metallic and Orange Metallic. It directly competes with the Honda City, the Hyundai Accent, the Kia Rio, the Nissan Almera, the Chevrolet Sonic sedan, the Ford Fiesta sedan, the Mazda2 sedan, and the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 (when it arrives).
